When people argue that recent demographic changes in Europe are not incidental, and that rising immigration is part of a deliberate plan by political elites to reshape society and replace existing populations, it can be difficult to understand how to make sense of this belief.

In this 30-minute webinar, Professor Richard Bentall and Dr Almudena Trucharte will explore a series of cases where the line between socially shared convictions and pathological beliefs can sometimes seem blurred.

The aim is not to pathologise strongly held beliefs, nor to deny the severe distress experienced by people with delusions. It is to create space for a more careful and compassionate conversation about the grey area in between.
